Hey everybody, in today's How to Paint Everything: Marvel Crisis Protocol we are going to be going over how to paint the new Ultimate Spider-Man!
After Peter Parker of the Ultimate universe is killed in action during a confrontation with the Green Goblin, Miles Morales inadvertently is bitten by a spider carrying a formula that is made to recreate Spider-Man's powers. Miles takes up the mantle of Spider-Man and proceeds to go on his own adventures, eventually crossing over into the main Marvel continuity.
This version of Miles Morales goes for a dynamic pose of him attacking with his venom powers. Its a great pose and makes painting him a lot of fun to do.
As always, you'll find a handy paint reference chart below, featuring all the colors that were used to paint him. Let's get to it!

Black Suit Sections
Basecoat - Vallejo Model Color Black: Citadel Incubi Darkness
Layer - Previous Mix: More Citadel Incubi Darkness
Layer - Citadel Incubi Darkness
Highlight - Citadel Incubi Darkness: AK Interactive Ice Yellow
Highlight - Previous Mix: More AK Interactive Ice Yellow
Wash - Citadel Nuln Oil
Mile's suit was painted how I usually paint black suits, which starts with a basecoat of Black mixed with Incubi Darkness. From there I mix in more Incubi Darkness and start defining musculature and areas that need to be highlights, before switching to straight Incubi Darkness. I then mix in Ice Yellow to Incubi Darkness to brighten it up a bit and begin highlighting the muscles and any raised areas. Mix in more Ice Yellow to highlight it more, repeat as needed. Then, wash the suit with Nuln Oil.
Red Suit Sections and Webbing
Basecoat - Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet
Shadows - Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet: Citadel Warpstone Glow
Layer - Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet
Highlight - Citadel Wild Rider Red
All of the red sections and the webbing were all painted Evil Sunz Scarlet. For the recesses and shaded areas were then given a coat of Evil Sunz Scarlet mixed with Warpstone Glow. I then reapplied Evil Sunz Scarlet as needed and finished it off with a highlight of Wild Rider Red.
Eye Lenses
Basecoat - Citadel Adminstratum Grey
Highlight - AK Interactive White
The lenses of his eyes were given a basecoat of Adminstratum Grey, followed by a simple highlight of White.
Venom Power Lightning
Basecoat - AK Interactive White
Layer - Lethal Shadows Fluorescent Yellow
Layer - Lethal Shadows Fluorescent Yellow: Lethal Shadows Fluorescent Light Orange
Highlight - Lethal Shadows Fluorescent Yellow
Edge Highlight - AK Interactive White
One of the things I've been doing recently for was injecting fluorescent colors into any spell or power effects. For Miles' venom power lightning effect I started with a basecoat of White to make sure that it was as bright as I could make it. I started with a full coverage layer of Fluorescent Yellow, it took a few coats to get it even. Once I was happy with it, I mixed Fluorescent Yellow and Fluorescent Light Orange together and paint that in various spots to give the lightning some extra dimension. I went back over it again with Fluorescent Yellow to fix any transitions and then did a bit of White edge highlighting to make it really pop.
Concrete Basing
Basecoat - Citadel Stormvermin Fur
Stipple - Citadel Adminstratum Grey
Stipple - Citadel Ulthuan Grey
Wash - Citadel Nuln Oil
Miles' base was given my standard basing treatment, which starts with a Stormvermin Fur basecoat. This is then stippled with Adminstratum Grey and Ulthuan Grey, using an old brush. After its all dry, the entire base is given a wash of Nuln Oil.

Ultimate Spider-Man is ready to go do his thing, and protect the people of Brooklyn. I foresee a lot of him in my Web Warrior rosters soon. This Web Warriors refresh has me very excited to revisit them, especially under Amazing Spider-Man's leadership.
