Hey there, Dear Reader, it's me again - Robert "TheChirurgeon" Jones, CEO of Goonhammer. I'm back with another mostly-monthly check-in to update you on all the cool things we've been doing behind the scenes here with our apps to remind you why you should consider supporting us. Or if you already support us, consider this a fun reminder of new things we've released that you might have missed.
All of the stuff we're going to be talking about here are updates for Goonhammer Patrons, some available at the $5 level, and the rest at the $10 level. If you're interested in supporting the site and making more updates like these possible - and more common - head over to Patreon and support us. And if you already support us, thanks - we appreciate it and love making new cool stuff for you.

There's a ton to cover here, from new apps and content to updates to Administratum, so keep scrolling if you want the full download.
Administratum: Vespator Front & 500 Worlds Campaigns
This is the biggest update we've released in a long time. Patrons at the $5 level and up can now create custom Vespator Front style campaigns in Administratum. You can either just run with the existing 500 Worlds map or go crazy and create your own.
I'm not kidding when I say this is our biggest update. Once you've installed this on a campaign, you'll be able to create a system of planets - either the existing 500 worlds set from the Titus campaign books, or your own system of entirely new planets, with their own connections, theatres of war, infrastructure points, and map.
From there you can pick players and fleets, and figure out how you want to set things up. You can get as crazy as you want with it, and we've added some light support for things like planetary keywords for Crusade forces in Codex: Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, T'au Empire, and Death Guard.
From there, you've got your map campaign ready to go! Move fleets around, adjust alliances, set up missions, and conduct operations. Right now this is mostly a manual process - we've put our effort into setting up the map and the UI, so you'll have to run through campaign phases following the rules in the book and update them in Administratum as you go.
The good news is that having the interactive campaign map has been done for you, and everything you need to track all of that stuff in one place is here, along with the regular support for players, dashboards, and team trackers.
Here's a video of the update in action:

We've also added the Vespator Font campaign missions to the Administratum missions list, so you can show those results. We're working on getting them added to Tabletop Battles.
What's Not Ready Yet
We still have a few updates to make to the Vespator Front campaign module. The big next one is Alliance Orders, and creating some kind of form/submissions process for this so players can submit their orders in secret. We also do plan to add a bit more of the campaign/game flow to this - right now it doesn't interact with units or games, it's just here for tracking your results. That will change, but it's going to take a month or so for us to implement some of that stuff.
There are also almost certainly some bugs in this code as well, and we'll fix those as they pop up. And if you use the starfield background, it can be pretty resource-intensive, so if you see it causing slowdown, switch the map background to dots.
Administratum: Chaos Knights Customization
One key feature missing from Administratum was the ability to customize your knights in Codex: Chaos Knights. We went ahead and added that to the add-on. You can now access that from your roster dashboard, where it'll show all of your roster's Chaos Knights and you can pick the unholy armaments they've added.
The sections you're updating will become highlighted as you add things, and once you add something it'll automatically populate to your unit's dashboard on your Roster.
Administratum: Custom Datasheets
The new
Crucible of Champions update gave players rules for creating their own Datasheets, so to go with this we made a Datasheet builder. You can access this when you upload a roster or in the settings for a Unit on your Roster. Just click that Datasheet drop down to start building a new Datasheet.
In there you can set profiles, name weapons, add abilities and keywords, and define the parameters of your custom character - or just a regular unit. If you've ever wanted Datasheets in Administratum for your guys, this is how you do it. Unfortunately it is something *you* have to do - we aren't a replacement for buying the books.
Once you've finished just pick your color choice for the Datasheet and generate it! From then on you can access that Datasheet from the Datasheet tab of your Unit.
And if you want to build Datasheets but
don't want to spend time doing it in Administratum or aren't part of a campaign, you can use a new tool in our Dataslate backend instead.
It's the same basic builder only designed for one-shot creations. You can also upload photos to this one for your units to customize the Datasheet. This one's available to $5+ Patrons and
you can find it here.
We'll be tweaking these a bit in the next few weeks, mostly ironing out some wrinkles and fixing the fonts a bit but we wanted to make sure that we had full support in our backend tools for building these kinds of custom characters.
Tabletop Battles - Detachments and Battle Formations
We're hard at work on some new stuff for the Tabletop Battles App, and in the meantime we've added a host of new Detachments and Battle Formations for Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar. Specifically, we've added Detachments for 500 Worlds and Eye of Terror and Battle Formations for Ossiarch Bonereapers, Flesh-eater Courts, Lumineth Realm-Lords, Sylvaneth, Daughters of Khaine, and Disciples of Tzeentch.
What's Next?
Next is Spearhead: Sand and Bone. It'll be a few weeks, so bear with us. Our plan is to not make everyone wait a year for the following Spearhead release, either.
Teams Data and the Matrix Builder Tool
We've added a matrix builder to our Dataslate tool! We'd already been playing around with teams data and mulling over what to do with it, and we figured it was time to build out something for teams players. So we started by building a teams data retrieval tool, which
Patrons can access here.
Of course, as soon as we'd build that we started asking ourselves why not just have a matrix builder for our Patrons to use, and so we built that too.
Innes Wrote a whole article on how to use it for comp play just for our subscribers as well.
You can find the Matrix Builder
via this link. It can be used to save teams and players, look at different detachments and matchups, and you can choose whether you want it to use only Teams games or supplement with Singles data if you really need to have more certainty around a matchup. It's a new feature but something we plan to iterate on so after you take it for a spin let us know what you think. It's available to $10 patrons.
Subscriber-Only Content
A month ago we launched new content for our $10 Subscribers - high-quality, in-depth competitive content, written by
some of the best 40k players in the world. Since then we've published 19 articles, covering everything from how to use specific Infiltrators and Transports to how to deploy conservatively to answering specific questions from our $10 patrons.
Here are a few of my favorite articles we've published in the last few weeks:
Again, this is just the tip of the iceberg and there's plenty more to dive into, both in terms of what we've already written, and what's coming up next.
Podcasts and Zines
And for our $5 Patrons, we've got regular podcasts - the Goonhammer crew publish about a half dozen podcast episodes per month on our Patreon. This past month on our HAMS Radio podcast we talked about GAMA and Adepticon, the new edition of Warhammer 40k on the horizon, Gundam Assemble, Saga, Basingstoke, StarCraft, and event logistics. We also published another Zine from Greg, available for Patrons to download and print out at their leisure.
And Just In Case You Needed More...
That's an insane amount of stuff to get for your $10 or even $5 subscription, and it's
all added value. I had someone reach out to us this past month about how it felt like they were being chastised for not paying enough for Goonhammer to get access to the upper tier stuff and I had to remind them that we haven't reduced our regular output at all - we're still putting out all the content we were before, just with more new stuff and app updates than ever before.
Not only do you get access to everything mentioned above - hell, you make it possible for us to build this stuff - you also get to remove ads here on Goonhammer (I seriously hate that we have to run these to keep the lights on), plus access to our Discord, early access to ticket sales for our events, and custom features in Administratum and Tabletop Battles like changing your avatar, pregame question checklists, and Forecast Mode, which lets you forecast the outcome of a game without changing it.
Goonhammer is a creator-owned business. We're a team of dedicated enthusiasts looking to take this ragtag operation from a fun blog to a real business making apps and content you can't find anywhere else. And we want to pay the people responsible for making these apps and content, so they can continue to do this and put their time and energy into it. So if you like what we do and you want to see more of it, smash that orange button and come support us.
