Content We Liked: August 30th, 2020

by | Aug 30 2020

Although it’s a big internet out there, the Warhammer digital universe is pretty small and spread out. In Content We Liked, we take a look at the articles, videos, podcasts, and products that caught our eyes or were noteworthy during the prior week you might have missed.

On the Internet at Large

  • Sergio Calvo's Equipe Mirage @Sergiocstudio via Twitter This is just a phenomenal paint job - it took my brain a few seconds to even recognize that I was looking at a miniature and not the rulebook art for the mini.
  • NOVA Open’s Summer Raffles NOVA Open Charitable Foundation We were deeply saddened (but in complete understanding) when NOVA was canceled this year. However that doesn’t mean it’s all cancelled – now through September 6th you can buy tickets to their raffle for a chance to win wonderfully painted miniatures from artists around the world.
  • Alisha Medvejonok's Saladin @alisha_medvejonok via Instagram The freehand work on this tapestry is so insanely good. Just a beautiful model, top to bottom.
  • 2nd Edition Blood Angels Sergeant by thehereticsworkshop @Thehereticsworkshop via Instagram I love the old 2nd edition marine model they put out at Games Day in the early 2000s and the paint work that's been done here does it wonderful justice.
  • Lewis Collins' Heresy-era Imperial Fists Leviathan @LewisCpaints via Twitter PROTIP: An easy way to get featured on Content We Liked is to put an awesome yellow paint job on a cool mini. The weathering here is great.
  • Garfy's Canoptek Reanimator diorama @Garfytwit via Twitter Garfy's done a great job with this Reanimator, and the staging for the photo is just aces - love the story it's telling.
  • TheFili's Winged Ork Warboss @TheFili via r/Warhammer40k This is an insanely cool conversion with a cool paint job. We don't even want to think about what it cost to make this model happen, given that we can immediately see key parts of three big box kits in there.
  • Painting Battle-Damaged Miniatures Tutorial Tashunpoluchun via Imgur This is a great tutorial on how to quickly paint battle damage on your minis with lots of great video and picture references.
  • Modern Synthesist's Tyranids Conversion @Mod_Synth via Twitter I'm always in awe of people who can do great custom work with green stuff and this project has just blown me away. There's so much cool detail here and I can't wait to see what the finished thing looks like.
