The Scathach Hunters perfectly fill the wardancer niche in the Weaver Courts lineup. With their flowing poses, they are a joy to pick up and look at from all angles. I'm really impressed by the sense of motion captured in each model. In my minds eye I see them racing acrobatically across the battlefield to dance their foes to death.

The build process was okay. A little bit fiddly but nothing to really complain about. It took me about 20-30 minutes to build each one. I'm getting better at reading Para Bellum instructions.

The arms and heads can be used with any of the 4 bodies, which lets you get a bit of extra variety and quite different poses.

When attaching them to their bases, I opted to use poly cement instead of superglue, hoping to create a stronger bond at the tiny connection point. So far they have stayed on their bases in spite of rough handling, so I guess I made the right choice.

When it came time for painting, I finally realised that certain units actually belong to specific seasonal Courts of the Weavers. The Scathach Hunters come from the Court of Autumn, so it's fitting to paint them in fall colours: yellows, oranges and reds.

The champion has a fancier helmet, armoured vambraces and more ornate swords. Notice the unfortunate detail mush on the skirt. Credit: Rachel

I was going for speed, not precision, so I was happy to find that while the details were a little bit mushy in some places (for example in the leaves of the skirt and especially wherever they meet the insectoid legs that spread across it), the models took Contrast paint and drybrushing well.

I guess they're named after Scáthach, the warrior woman of Scottish/Irish legend who taught Cú Chulainn how to fight. I like the way Para Bellum are playing with Gaelic words and names; it makes me wee Scottish heart happy.

In spite of the great degree to which they overhang their bases, you can rank them up without them all hitting each other in the face. Which is a nice change.
