Goonhammer Recap: Kill Team January 2026

by Jonathan Bernhardt | Jan 31 2026

It was a big month for Kill Team this January, with two new Kill Teams -- the Murderwing and Celestian Insidiants, with new rules and new models -- and a brand-new way to play Kill Team in the Shadowhunt expansion box, and then a week later, a brand-new Dataslate adjusting many of the teams in the competitive game in order to rebalance it for the rest of winter and into spring (or for our southern hemisphere readers, you know, the opposite of that). We covered everything Shadowhunt across these four articles: And then here's both a link to our team's full review of the Dataslate changes, and then to CYRAC's video on YouTube if you want an expanded, multimedia version of his take on the 'Slate: Finally, in the first week of January, one of our other resident Kill Team writers, Dan "Swiftblade" Richardson wrote a pair of pieces on the game that we'll link here too, since they might be helpful; the first is an introduction to the game if you're a new player (which I, Bernhardt, am; stay tuned for more about that as the year goes on), and the second is an introduction to the blend of semi-slang, semi-official terminology that players use when they play Kill Team. Personally I found both of them helpful: We're looking forward to a big year for Kill Team, and hope you'll join us as we cover it every step of the way!
