Catch Up on This Week's 40K Dataslate and the New Detachments

by Robert "TheChirurgeon" Jones | Dec 13 2025

Merry Grotmas, everyone! This past week saw a slew of new updates to Warhammer 40,000, once again shaking up the entire megagame with new rules, points values, and detachments. In case you missed any of it, here's a rundown of everything that came out this week and our coverage of it.

Grotmas Detachments

There were six new Detachments this week and all of them were pretty good! Even the worst of them (Nightmare Hunt, Serpent's Brood) look like they'll be fun to test and try, and the best of them (Grizzled Company) seem destined for regular competitive play. We also covered the new orders for Grizzled Company in this week's Hammer of Math.

The Balance Update

Not every faction was hit this time around but most of the game's factions saw at least small adjustments, with Aeldari, Admech, and Sisters catching some of the biggest nerfs. Of course, this is just the start - come back next week when we'll be covering the first tournament results with the new balance updates, and then in January as events pick back up and we're diving into the way matchups have changed with the new pack.
